B5 Plus & DPS International Extend Full Scholarships to Children of Helicopter Crash Victims

B5 Plus Group, together with DPS International School in Tema, has introduced a transformative scholarship program in Ghana. This initiative provides support to the children of eight Ghanaians who tragically died in the helicopter crash on August 6, 2025. The accident involved a Ghana Air Force Z-9EH helicopter traveling to Obuasi on an official mission to combat illegal mining. All eight passengers on board, including two government ministers and senior officials, lost their lives in this devastating event

Supporting Education Through Private Sector Compassion

During a formal ceremony at the Office of the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah received the initiative on behalf of the Presidency. He praised it as a strong example of corporate social responsibility and a meaningful investment in Ghana’s future.

What the Full Scholarship Covers

The scholarship programme will provide two children from each affected family with:

  • 100% tuition coverage at DPS International School, Tema

  • Free school uniforms and essential learning materials

  • Access to boarding facilities, if needed

  • Full support from basic school to A-Level education

This comprehensive package ensures that these children receive not just academic help, but also a nurturing environment to grow and succeed.

Investing in the Future of Ghana

Marietta Brew, Presidential Advisor and former Attorney-General, applauded the initiative. She highlighted DPS International’s academic excellence and track record, noting that it aligns with the government’s vision of using education to empower Ghanaian youth.

She also pointed to alumni success stories—such as Oheneba Kwame Kyeretwie, now studying Astronomy at Wesleyan University in the USA—as proof of the school’s ability to prepare students for global leadership.

A Strong Partnership for Educational Impact

This partnership between B5 Plus Group and DPS International reflects a shared vision: to make quality education in Ghana more accessible, especially for those affected by tragedy.

By investing in these children’s futures, both institutions aim to uplift families and communities while honoring the memory of those who were lost.

B5 Plus Group’s Commitment to Social Impact

“At B5 Plus, we believe our strength comes not just from steel, but from the support we give to our communities,” the company stated. “This scholarship is a way to create long-term impact by investing in young lives.”

Together with DPS International School, B5 Plus remains committed to shaping a brighter, more inclusive future — because every child in Ghana deserves the opportunity to learn, dream, and lead.
