Ensuring Local Manufacturing of Quality Grinding Media

On Tuesday 23rd January 2024, the Ghana chamber of mines organized a workshop on grinding media under the theme “Ensuring Local Manufacturing of Quality Grinding Media for the Mining Industry.” The Main Speaker for the work shop was Prof. Richard Amankwah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Mines and Technology, also professor of Minerals Engineering at the same university.
We also had representation from Mineral Commission and speakers from our leading industries B5 plus and WAFOR. The discussions rounded on promoting local content by not only producing grinding media locally but also concentrate and work together with University of Mines and Technology for producing quality products. Mineral commission and Ghana Chamber of mines requested for the mines to open up for the testing of locally produced Grinding media. To bring up a standard quality specifications all the mines were requested to give theirs grinding media steel balls specifications.
B5 plus, Chairman, Mr. Mukesh Thakwani as part of his speech he ensured not only to produce quality product but also maintain technical team available 24/7 to meet the needs of mines as per their requirements. Mr. Mukesh Thakwani also mentioned about their Fabrication unit where it produces best quality products maintaining international standards. He also mentioned about mining metal scrap to be sold to B5 Plus to enable them to use for local production.”
